A User-Friendly Solution For Fill-Finish Professionals
1/31/2024
When AST came to the table on the design for our new fill-finish isolator, one of the first areas AST engineers wanted to address was the usability and accessibility of the isolator and corresponding operations. With our customers’ point of view in mind, we wanted to address specific points of friction routinely encountered by operators and closely examine whether those friction points were necessary.
Does an isolator need to be ergonomically unfriendly to clean?
Should simple mechanisms like isolator doors be challenging to engage? (As much as one can appreciate exercise, no one wants to do “arm day” in cleanroom coveralls).
Does routine maintenance have to be time-consuming and laborious?
Many of these factors are accepted as par for the course in aseptic fill-finish manufacturing. Our question was, why?

Small Bottle Checkweigher: High-Accuracy Measurement For Small Containers
8/27/2024
This checkweigher ensures stable transfer and high-accuracy measurement of small containers that can easily topple during conveyance, such as eye lotion bottles, nasal drop vials, and cosmetics containers. The model features a conveyor with three integrated side-grip belts that keep products upright throughout the infeed, weigh table, and outfeed sections. The width of these side-grip belts is easily adjustable to accommodate different product sizes, with a standard range of 20-40 mm and an optional maximum width extension up to 100 mm. This design allows for a processing speed of up to 200 bottles per minute and an accuracy of +/- 0.02 g. The rejector uses a gate-type mechanism, with an optional air jet rejector for products up to 200 g. The system is compliant with federal regulation 21 CFR Part 11 for the integrity of electronic records and signatures, with features such as password authentication, audit trail of operation data, and encryption/decryption of exported data.

DEXSORB® For PFAS And Organic Micropollutants
4/2/2026
DEXSORB is a novel adsorbent made from crosslinked β-cyclodextrin polymers. The media features uniform 0.78 nm hydrophobic cavities that selectively adsorb organic contaminants in the 150 – 1000 Dalton molecular weight range. DEXSORB is available in two formulations to adsorb (A) PFAS exclusively, or (B) PFAS + organic micropollutants (OMPs) in combination. While DEXSORB and GAC operate by the same mechanism of adsorption, and share similar physiochemical properties, DEXSORB possesses multiple properties that provide for superior PFAS removal and waste handling.
