For many water utilities, leaks in the system are just a matter of fact. Yet the intersection of aging infrastructure and rising emphasis on conservation efforts makes the identification and repair of leaks increasingly critical. After all, leaks are a significant source of revenue loss, as well as harmful to the environment and the community at large. Many water utilities rely on flow meters to detect potential leaks. However, too often this process is slow and inaccurate, sometimes requiring teams of operators to head out to inspect large areas of the network –– a task made even more challenging when the vast majority of pipes are underground.

A leak detection system (LDS) is designed to eliminate this and many other challenges associated with leaking infrastructure. An LDS leverages existing meters, sensors, and other instrumentation to more precisely pinpoint leak locations, saving time, money, and manpower spent scouring and searching.
