The National Association Of Water Companies Names Colleen Newman Director Of Government Relations

The National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) is pleased to announce that Colleen Newman has been named as its director of government relations.

Newman will lead NAWC’s efforts to promote policies supporting sustainable solutions to the nation’s water infrastructure investment and management challenges. These solutions require innovation and, working with NAWC members and chapters, she will increase NAWC’s participation in state legislative and regulatory matters, strengthening the growth of NAWC members’ businesses in regulated utilities and public-private partnerships serving communities across the country.

“Colleen’s addition to our team deepens NAWC’s expertise and broadens our organization’s ability to promote sound water infrastructure policy and serve our members,” said Michael Deane, Executive Director for NAWC. “Her experience at the federal level, coupled with her work in state relations and advocacy, aligns with NAWC’s strategic direction to support state-level legislative issues. Our goal is to create opportunity for the private water industry to increase its investment in the U.S. and deliver the value of its management expertise to more Americans.”

Newman joins NAWC with over 24 years of federal relations experience handling energy and environmental issues on Capitol Hill for various associations and clients. Prior joining NAWC, Newman served as a policy advisor to Luis Fortuño, former Governor of Puerto Rico. Additionally, she has served as the Governor’s staff liaison to the National Governors Association (NGA), Southern States Energy Board (SSEB) and the Council on State Governments (CSG).

Newman obtained her Bachelor degree at Loyola College in Maryland, followed by her Masters of International Commerce and Policy at George Mason University.
