Acquisition continues successful expansion into South America

RWL Water, the New York-based global water, wastewater and waste-to-energy solutions provider, has reached an agreement to acquire Acquavit, a well-established Brazilian water and wastewater treatment company. Headquartered in Jundiai, São Paulo, Brazil, Acquavit’s team has decades of outstanding experience in water treatment solutions in Brazil. Subject to meeting certain customary conditions, closing is expected in January 2017.

The acquisition of Acquavit, which will be renamed RWL Water Brasil following closing, reinforces RWL Water’s strategy to further expand in the largest market in South-America and will help promote the company’s global expertise in water, wastewater and reuse solutions to municipal and industrial customers. RWL Water previously acquired Unitek S.A. in Argentina in 2013 (now known as RWL Water Argentina) and has secured several strategic contracts throughout Latin America since the acquisition.

‘’We are very excited at the prospect of welcoming Acquavit to the RWL Water family. This acquisition is a testimony to our confidence in Brazil’s economy and its future growth potential. Brazil is facing significant water scarcity issues, rising electricity prices and wastewater problems; thus, our global experience stemming from other RWL Water sister companies in desalination, reuse and waste-to-energy solutions are of particular relevance.” - RWL Water President and CEO, Henry Charrabé.

“There is a gap in the Brazilian market for innovative water reuse technologies and projects. We feel that joining RWL Water will greatly benefit Acquavit and our customers. RWL Water is undoubtedly leaving its mark across the globe; strategically acquiring specialized companies and new technologies in order to increase the water solutions within the middle market. We are extremely excited to join the RWL Water team as they expand in Brazil and globally.” – Alexandre Melo, Acquavit Executive and Shareholder.

Following the closing, RWL Water Brasil will be working closely with RWL Water’s other international sister companies in Argentina, Italy, Israel and the United States to provide treatment solutions, including RWL Water’s state-of-the-art packaged and decentralized systems to its existing and expanding customer base in Brazil.
