Natural Resources Consulting Engineers And CH2M HILL Win USAID Water And Development IDIQ Contract

Contract will help advance USAID’s Water and Development Strategy

The Natural Resources Consulting Engineers, Inc. (NRCE) and CH2M HILL are pleased to announce they have been awarded a contract to provide engineering and technical support services to the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Missions, Bureaus and Offices worldwide in the implementation of the Agency’s Water and Development Strategy. This is a multiple-award indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract, with a ceiling of $1B, over a five-year period of performance.

Under this Water and Development IDIQ (WADI) contract, NRCE and major subcontractor CH2M HILL, along with a team of partners including Deloitte Consulting, Futures/GRM Group, IMPAQ International, JE Austin, IDEO, NEWDEA and Panagora Group, will provide services in water programming to improve health through the sustainable delivery of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), as well as advance water resource management in agriculture for enhanced food security. In support of WADI, the combined team will help USAID prioritize and implement water solutions to protect public health and increase sustainable development.

“Despite many developing countries peoples’ reliance on agriculture to support their livelihood, rural farmers have been unsuccessful in producing sufficient amounts of food to feed their respective populations. The limiting factor for sustainable agricultural production, especially in sub-Sahara Africa, is the lack of an adequately developed water supply. NRCE’s experience and knowledge gained during the last several decades in development of water supplies and agricultural production, which are implementable under the conditions of developing countries’ social and economic environment, is expected to support USAID’s goal of minimizing food insecurity and reducing water-borne diseases,” said Woldezion Mesghinna, NRCE’s President and Founder.

“We are pleased to work with NRCE and USAID to advance the long-term goals of the Agency’s Water and Development Strategy,” said Greg McIntyre, CH2M HILL’s Global Water Business Group President. “Water is fundamental to development and by emphasizing the sustainable use of water in saving lives and promoting sustainable development; we can help USAID achieve its humanitarian objectives.”

From 1998-2001, NRCE participated in CH2M HILL’s Department of Defense Mentor Protégé Program. CH2M HILL, who has earned numerous awards for small business subcontracting, has been an official mentor to many federal mentor protégé programs for the last eight years and is pleased to work with NRCE on this contract, one of three set aside for small businesses.
