Customers Continue To Exceed Water Conservation Requirements At NCWD

Customers used nearly a third less water in March compared to 2013

Newhall County Water District (NCWD) customers reduced their water use by 32.6 percent in March 2016 compared to 2013.

This exceeds the 25 percent reduction target compared to 2013 water usage required by the state. Reducing water use by nearly one-third is especially important, as El Niño has failed to break California’s severe drought. NCWD’s previous target was 28 percent. The State lowered the District’s target to 25 percent in March.

“We are tremendously proud of our customers for remaining vigilant despite the expectation of increased rainfall this season,” said Steve Cole, NCWD’s General Manager. “While we are always on the look-out for an end to the drought, we remain confident in our customers’ abilities to conserve and use water more efficiently than ever.”

Cole added that NCWD’s success comes from empowering customers to increase their water conservation and efficiency.

“We work to provide our customers with as many tools as possible to reduce their water use,” concluded Cole. “The iConserve mobile app, Water Efficiency Target system, and rebate programs are some of the many options available to take water savings to the next level.”
