Congressman Dan Kildee Visits Local Water Treatment Technology Company In Saginaw

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) recently visited the Duperon Corporation office and toured the company's manufacturing facility in Saginaw. Congressman Kildee met with Duperon Chairman of the Board Terry Duperon, CEO Tammy Bernier, and President Mark Turpin to discuss their shared commitment to water quality and local manufacturing support. A member of the board of the Saginaw County Business Education Partnership, Bernier has long been passionate about closing the skills gap in Michigan. Co-chairing CITIZENS for Career Technical Education (CTE) with Patrick Curry of Fullerton Tool, Bernier feels the passage of a CTE millage in Saginaw County in November is a great first step.
"It was great to have Congressman Kildee and Deputy District Director Jake Bennett in the office to discuss workforce readiness and water infrastructure," said Bernier. "We know we have a national crisis with trillions of dollars of deficit in infrastructure. Water and other 'below grade' infrastructure is often forgotten on that list until you have a Flint, MI incident or water main breaks. Now is the time for a united effort between government decision makers and industry leaders on career technical education and infrastructure spending."
Born and raised in Flint, Congressman Dan Kildee is a lifelong Michigander. Representing Michigan's Fifth District, he serves in various leadership positions to fight for investments in infrastructure, job training and Michigan's environment. Since coming to Congress, Congressman Kildee has worked to expand workforce training programs for Michiganders so that they have the skills necessary for highly-skilled manufacturing jobs. In his role as the Vice Ranking Member of the Financial Services Committee, Congressman Kildee has launched a national conversation about the need to invest in infrastructure in order to improve water quality and keep Americans safe.
"It was great to visit Duperon Corporation and learn more about their work to invest in water infrastructure and improve water quality for Michiganders," said Congressman Kildee. "I appreciate companies like Duperon investing in the Great Lakes Bay Region and hiring Michiganders for good-paying jobs. I look forward to working with businesses like Duperon in the future to grow our economy and expand business right here in Michigan."
Kildee was first connected with Duperon Corporation in April 2018 at the Water and Wastewater Equipment Manufacturers Association (WWEMA) Washington Forum. The annual legislative, regulatory, and policy meeting directly connects members and invited guests to leaders in the industry and the government including Congress, EPA, and the Department of Commerce.
