AWWA Announces Winners Of ACE17 Fresh Ideas Poster Competition

Winners from AWWA's Ohio, Florida, Arizona Sections

The American Water Works Association has announced the winners of its annual Fresh Ideas Poster Competition for students that took place during AWWA’s Annual Conference & Exposition in Philadelphia last week.

The first place winner is Keerthi Palanisamy from AWWA’s Ohio Section for her poster entitled “Biofiltration of Chloroform in an Aerobic Trickle Bed Biofilter”. As first place winner, Palanisamy will receive $500 and the opportunity to write an article for Journal – American Water Works Association, AWWA’s flagship publication that includes professional and scholarly content.

The second-place winner is Beverly Medina from AWWA’s Florida Section for her poster entitled “Evaluating options for regenerant brine reuse in ion exchange systems for dissolved organic carbon renewal”.

The third-place winner is Hannah Ray from AWWA’s Arizona Section for her poster entitled “Urea hydrolysis characterization in fresh urine and inhibition by chemical addition”.

The Fresh Ideas Poster Competition was one of several special events at ACE17 geared toward students and young professionals.
