WEF Team Competing Today In Argentinean Operations Challenge
Skills competition is taking place at annual water meeting in Buenos Aires
A team of highly skilled water quality professionals representing the Water Environment Federation (WEF) are competing today against some 20 teams from South America in the 6th Olimpiadas Sanitarias. The competition is being held as part of the18th AIDIS Congreso Argentino Saneamiento y Medio Ambiente at the Costa Salguero in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Modeled after Operations Challenge, WEF’s well-known annual competition for wastewater operations and maintenance professionals, Olimpiadas Sanitarias will showcase the skills needed to clean water safely and successfully through events testing ability in areas such as collections, laboratory procedures, maintenance, and safety.
WEF’s Equipo KSB-Hydro includes top talent from teams currently competing in Operations Challenge and represents more than 100 years of experience in the water quality industry. They will pit precision, speed, and skills against approximately 18 teams from Argentina and two from Colombia. Several of the Argentinean teams have competed in WEF’s Operations Challenge competition five times since 2003.
Equipo KSB-Hydro team members include: Dale Burrow (TRA CReWSers, Texas Class A Wastewater License, Interceptor System Specialist from Central Regional Wastewater System, Trinity River Authority, Dallas, TX); Rey Davila (Dallas Aquatechs, Texas Class A Wastewater License, Plant Supervisor from Southside Wastewater Treatment Plant, City of Dallas, TX); Paul Johnson (LA Wrecking Crew, California State Water Resources Control Board or SWRCB Grade III Certification, Foreman from Joint Water Pollution Control Plant, Carson, CA), and Jeffrey Valdes (California SWRCB Grade V Certification, Plant Supervisor from San Jose Creek Water Reclamation Plant, Whittier, CA).
