Wastewater Dilemma Hitting Small Towns The Hardest

Anxious is the best way to describe the mood when people talk about wastewater in Paris, TX.

The town’s treatment plant, which dates to World War II and now processes 4.2 MGD of sewage, is in desperate need of a makeover. During the last cleaning of the aeration basin, cracks were found in walls. A few years ago, plant management told city officials to expect catastrophic failures within a decade.
