Video Success Story: AquaNereda Technology At Wolcott WWTP
A county in Kansas City faced challenges in wastewater treatment due to rapid population growth in the early 2000s. To address this, the government acquired a pre-owned package plant and relocated it to the Wolcott neighborhood in Kansas City. However, this solution was not sustainable in the long term due to issues like flooding and accessibility.
In response, a decision was made to undertake a major upgrade of the Wolcott plant's capacity. Various wastewater treatment technologies were considered, with the main criteria being a compact footprint, increased capacity, compliance with future permit requirements, and cost-effectiveness. The old package plant could handle around 200,000 gallons per day, but the new facility needed to accommodate up to 2 million gallons per day to support growth and meet new treatment standards. After evaluating options, AquaNereda aerobic granular sludge technology was chosen.
