Upcoming Workshop Explores Potable Reuse In The Mid-Atlantic

The Water Environment & Reuse Foundation and Water Research Foundation are pleased to announce that a one-day workshop focusing on the state of the science of potable reuse – particularly as it pertains to the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. – is scheduled for Wednesday, August 23, 2017. Presenters will explore the unique regional drivers for water reuse in the mid-Atlantic, including a panel discussion on the path forward for potable reuse in the East Coast.

Speakers from utilities currently practicing potable reuse along with academics, technology providers, and representatives from leading engineering and design firms will share their insights on treatment technologies, treatment system design and permitting, economics, operations, and achieving stakeholder support to overcome regulatory barriers and gain public trust. The workshop will be held on the banks of the Occoquan River in scenic Fairfax County, Virginia, at the Frederick P. Griffith, Jr. Water Treatment Plant, providing an ideal location to meet with colleagues to learn about innovative potable reuse initiatives and to share ideas and experiences. The workshop is hosted by WE&RF and co-sponsors, the Water Research Foundation and Xylem.
