Flow measurement devices are frequently used to track the amount of water in sewer and stormwater systems, helping ensure the system isn't suddenly overwhelmed. Measurement technologies also exist to gauge water levels in partially filled pipes and collection systems.

A recent webinar examined shortcomings of traditional flow measurement and explored how closed pipe measurement can help improve worker safety, reduce the risk of system exposure to contaminants, and overcome problems caused by system surcharging. A Q&A following the webinar then addressed closed pipe measurement and its enabling technologies in greater detail.
