U.S. Pipe Supplies Nearly 24 miles Of Pipe To Support Clean Water Efforts In Waukesha, WI

U.S. Pipe is proud to support a transformative water infrastructure project delivering clean, reliable drinking water from Lake Michigan to the City of Waukesha, Wisconsin. As part of this large-scale initiative, U.S. Pipe will supply an estimated 34 miles of 30-inch TYTON JOINT® and HDSS® restrained joint ductile iron pipe—engineered to meet demanding performance and installation requirements while ensuring long-term service reliability.
Project collaboration began in June 2017 with an initial interest meeting between U.S. Pipe and design engineer Greeley and Hansen. This dialogue continued with a lunch-and-learn session in Chicago and a comprehensive plant tour at U.S. Pipe’s Bessemer, Alabama facility, attended by representatives from Greeley and Hansen and the Greater Water Alliance. These engagements provided a forum to address key concerns related to corrosion resistance, installation costs, welded outlets, and pipe restraint design.
U.S. Pipe’s Sales and Engineering teams highlighted the advantages of TYTON® Joint and HDSS® ductile iron pipe, with HDSS® standing out for its robust design, added deflection, and true 350 psi working pressure rating. Ideal for applications such as bridge crossings, horizontal directional drilling, and pipe bursting, HDSS® offers exceptional strength and adaptability.
An October 2019 open house, co-hosted with Core & Main, gave contractors hands-on experience with a 30-inch HDSS® pipe cutaway, showcasing its simple, tool-free assembly and positive axial locking system. The presentation helped drive strong contractor confidence, leading to SJ Louis being awarded contracts in 2020.
This landmark project will deliver lasting benefits to Waukesha residents and the broader Lake Michigan region—reinforcing U.S. Pipe’s commitment to building dependable infrastructure that communities can trust every day.
