tr-extreme

U.S. Pipe’s TR-XTREME® pipe is engineered for seismic resilience, providing the first domestic ductile iron pipeline capable of expansion, contraction, and deflection within a single restrained bell joint.

Designed for critical infrastructure in earthquake-prone regions, TR-XTREME joints accommodate 2.9"–4.6" of axial movement and up to 5° of joint deflection, ensuring continuous service during ground settlement, liquefaction, or lateral spread.

Available in 6"–48" diameters, TR-XTREME combines decades of restrained joint design expertise with robust engineering to deliver one of the strongest earthquake-resistant joints on the market. The joints utilize the proven TYTON® Gasket for reliable sealing, factory-installed locking segments for enhanced pull-apart resistance, and a spigot weld bead for additional restraint. Boltless assembly allows rapid installation, while a complete line of compatible fittings and adapters ensures system-wide resiliency.

Manufactured from ductile iron—a material renowned for its strength and long service life—TR-XTREME pipe is sustainable, with 90% recycled iron content and 100% recyclability. Coatings and linings, including metallic zinc, further protect the pipeline under extreme conditions.

TR-XTREME’s design is aligned with ISO 16134:2020 for earthquake and subsidence-resistance, and its performance has been validated through third-party testing, including large-scale seismic simulations at Cornell University and the University of California, Berkeley. With a 350 psi working pressure rating and engineered for permanent ground displacements, TR-XTREME ensures that critical water infrastructure remains operational when it is needed most.
