Thompson Pipe Group Flowtite FRP Wins First Phase Of New Sewer Line In Southern Nevada

Thompson Pipe Group, a California-based pipe manufacturing company, has been selected to design and manufacture Flowtite FRP for the $62M first phase of the Paradise-Whitney Interceptor (PWI) project in Clark County, Nev. This is the first of three phases to construct the PWI, a new sewer line project consisting of about 13.5 miles of large-diameter pipeline. Flowtite fiberglass piping ranging from 48 inches to 72 inches was selected due to its advantages in corrosion resistance, superior hydraulic characteristics and ease of installation.

Phase one of the project, designed by Carollo Engineers and installed by Las Vegas Paving, will provide about 27,000 feet of pipeline to Clark County and will connect to an existing 84-inch pipeline. About 50 percent of this phase will consist of trenchless installation methods with Flowtite fiberglass jacking pipes. Pipeline installation is scheduled to start in January with final completion slated for January 2017.

“We are honored to work with Carollo Engineers on another project and ensure the Clark County community maintains a safe and reliable infrastructure,” said Thompson Pipe Group Executive Vice President, Mike Leathers. “With more than 85 million feet installed worldwide, we’re excited to see the increasing popularity of Flowtite FRP.”

“Flowtite fiberglass pipes have a long service life, are easier to handle and are much faster to fabricate and put together in the field,” said Carollo Engineers Vice President, Greg Gould. “We are thrilled to be working once again with Thompson Pipe Group as we install Flowtite fiberglass pipes for the Paradise-Whitney Interceptor project.”
