The ‘Innovation In The Desalination Industry' Conference Concluded With The Launch Of Advanced Technologies And Innovations

The “Innovation in the Desalination Industry” conference concluded its second session today (Tuesday), which was organized by the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, in Jeddah Governorate, with broad international and local participation that included more than 300 participants from all over the world, and attendance at the workshops and accompanying exhibition activities exceeded 1,800 researchers and specialists over three days.

The conference agenda included dialogue sessions, workshops, and special meetings with a group of international officials and experts participating in the event, where they discussed benefiting from “desalination” to meet water needs, using the best technical methods in future innovations for water sustainability, and developing strategies to meet the challenges of this desalination industry.

The speeches and discussion sessions on the final day of the conference addressed the promising resource potential of brines for water desalination, innovative technologies for extracting important minerals, obtaining low-energy, chemical-free fresh water using subsea reverse osmosis technology, and energy-efficient, low-energy extraction of minerals. Carbon emissions.

The sessions also addressed the possibility of benefiting from salt water resulting from seawater desalination, the role of artificial intelligence in revolutionizing water desalination technology, increasing efficiency and reducing costs in water treatment technology using artificial intelligence and additive manufacturing, the challenges and future prospects of additive manufacturing for water desalination, and the disruptive changes in Water technology, and the importance of entrepreneurship ecosystems to create the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs in the field of water innovation, and build future desalination leaders and technical experts.

While the conference witnessed the launch of a new global innovation in the water desalination industry, which is a technology that is considered the first “membrane” made of ceramic using a 3D printer by the innovator Andrew Walker, which can be used for 5 years and recycled.

“Desalination” had preceded the conference by crowning His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Engineer Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli, and in the presence of His Excellency the Governor of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, Engineer Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim, the winners of the “World Innovation Award in Water Desalination,” which was launched by “Desalination” and participated It has 105 competitors, representing more than 27 countries, as the award integrates with the comprehensive water strategy that works to integrate trends, policies, legislation and practices in the water sector.

During the conference, it was announced that the number of participants in the “Global Innovation Award for Water Desalination” next year would increase to 250 participants, and that the value of the award would be doubled to support innovation and innovators.

The conference hosted an accompanying exhibition that included pavilions for a number of specialized companies, entities and bodies that showcased the latest innovative technologies in the water desalination industry and advanced systems that work to efficiently produce desalinated water in a way that supports the strategy aimed at enhancing clean and sustainable water supplies while using the latest technologies that contribute to reducing energy consumption. .

“Desalination” also signed 5 mutual agreements to localize the water industry and support advanced and innovative technologies, with a number of major bodies and companies, including the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (Monsha’at), the University of Tabuk, UI Path, Fedco, and Dow.
