THE BioDen PROCESS
The BioDen process removes nitrates from water by using biological denitrification
The BioDen process removes nitrates from water by using biological denitrification. This is a resperation process where the bacteria break apart the nitrate (N03) molecule The primary by-products of this respiration are harmless nitrogen gas (N2) and carbon dioxide (CO2).
Water enters a series of BioDen reactor towers which contain naturally occurring, non-pathogenic bacteria. These bacteria are stimulated by the automatic addition of a small amount of organic carbon (Acetic acid), which the bacteria use to breakdown the nitrate molecule. The gases which are produced are vented harmlessly into the air.
In drinking water applications the water then flows through a series of filters which remove residual bacteria and turbidity in the water. In remediation applications filtration may not be necessary.
