Taking The Guess Work Out Of Water Metering
In order to minimize impacts to customers during heavy water usage periods, South Carolina’s Beaufort-Jasper Water and Sewer Authority needed more data.
Watering restrictions, for example, were hard to implement with meter information that could only be accessed one day out of the month, based on drive-by reads and manual entries into the billing system.
With ORION® Cellular endpoints and BEACON® Software as a Service from Badger Meter, water usage can now be viewed in real-time, and leaks are caught in days rather than months. The EyeOnWater® customer portal puts the same data into the hands of the customer.
“With this technology, it’s actually been a game changer for customer service,” Jane McCormick and I’m the customer service manager at Beaufort-Jasper Water and Sewer Authority said. “A customer gets a bill. It's a lot higher than their previous month. Before, we could only give them ideas of what it may be. It was more of a guessing game. Now we can let them know. We'll go over the readings with them.”
