Sizing Up New York's Wastewater Treatment Facilities

A new report published in the February 24th issue of the Water Research journal evaluates New York State’s publicly-owned treatment works (POTWs) and asks the question, “Is Bigger Better?”
Researchers from Cornell University evaluated wastewater treatment facilities of all sizes across the State, looking for the impacts that each plant has on local water quality. And what they found was that medium-sized treatment plants tend to do the best job treating wastewater.
