One of South America’s leading water treatment companies agrees in principle to join the RWL Water Group, a global water solutions provider.

RWL Water Group, the New York-based global water solutions provider, has reached an agreement in principle pursuant to which, Unitek S.A. will become a part of the RWL Water portfolio of companies.  Headquartered in Mar del Plata, in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Unitek brings great experience in water treatment in South America, which creates one of many opportunities for cross-business synergies in the region between the other RWL Water portfolio companies, Aeromix, Eurotec WTT and Nirosoft. The proposed acquisition is subject to certain customary closing conditions, which both parties expect will be satisfied in the coming weeks. Following the closing, a majority of Unitek will be owned by RWL Water.  Unitek’s founders will retain a minority equity interest and continue to grow the business as RWL Water partners in their current positions with Unitek.

“We are very excited that Unitek, which fits so perfectly with the RWL Water culture and technology, has agreed in principle to join forces with us. When completed, the addition of Unitek will provide us with the credibility, expertise and speed to respond to almost any water treatment need for our customers in Latin America,” says Henry Charrabé, President and CEO of RWL Water.

Latin America is one of RWL Water’s focus markets.  Over the past two years, the company has opened three sales offices throughout the region and an operations office in Colombia. This symbiotic partnership makes RWL Water Group the first option for customers in South America with solid sales, manufacturing and customer support.

“The combination of the RWL Water Group brand with Unitek in Latin America will elevate us to a tier one company in this region. Leveraging the strength of the combined companies within RWL Water, will immediately expand our product offerings to the region and broaden our technical expertise available to our clients,” says Alejandro Sturniolo, Co-Owner and Vice President of Unitek.

Since Unitek’s inception in 1993, the organization has demonstrated the ability to develop and engineer advanced technologies and effectively market its products in Latin America. Unitek offers both standard and custom equipment, new application development capacity, as well as a sales structure to facilitate the selling of the Group’s complete portfolio of products.  Unitek engineers are experts in applying membrane-based technologies, including: reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, membrane bioreactors, electrodeionization, ozonation and more.

Upon closing the Unitek transaction, the Group will have more than 90 years of combined experience in water and wastewater treatment and more than 250 dedicated employees to bring water, wastewater and waste-to-energy solutions to the world.

Mr. Sturniolo comments, “Joining the Group will give our employees greater opportunity for growth and will pave a path for Unitek to leave our legacy to future generations. We are enthusiastic about sharing technological and cultural experiences with the other portfolio companies.”

Over the next few months, following closing, Unitek and its employees will be fully integrated into the RWL Water Group. A rebranding strategy is already underway to allow Unitek to thrive under the RWL Water umbrella.
