PUC Names Gleeson Executive Director

Agency veteran praised for financial acumen
In a unanimous vote, commissioners today promoted longtime agency employee, Thomas Gleeson, to the role of Executive Director for the Public Utility Commission of Texas. Having excelled in multiple roles since joining the agency in 2008, Gleeson most recently served as Chief Operating Officer.
“I am delighted that Thomas has accepted our invitation to continue serving Texas as our Executive Director,” said Chairman DeAnn Walker. “One would be hard pressed to find a person with deeper knowledge of our mission or a stronger commitment to its fulfillment.”
Gleeson earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX and a Master of Public Administration from the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University.
“Thomas has been a rock-solid member of the PUC’s leadership team throughout my tenure and a deft manager of the agency’s inner workings,” said Commissioner Arthur D’Andrea. “He embodies the commitment to public service that truly sets this agency apart.”
Gleeson began his career as a legislative analyst for the Texas Senate and was a budget analyst for the Legislative Budget Board immediately before joining the PUC twelve years ago.
“Thomas has long been highly regarded for his financial acumen in the Capitol,” said Commissioner Shelly Botkin. “His budgeting skills are especially valuable as our agency heads into a legislative session that will likely be defined by a global pandemic. We are fortunate to have him.”
Gleeson and his wife, Elisa, are raising their three sons in Pflugerville, TX.
In other agency news, Paytyn Woltersdorf will be joining Chairman DeAnn Walker’s office as advisor on January 1st. The Texas A&M graduate has been a member of the PUC team since 2013 and most recently served as Advisor to the Executive Director.
