Perma Pure Inc. is a leading manufacturer of gas sample conditioning products such as dryers, humidifiers, filters, coalescers, specialty scrubbers, and complete sampling systems. It markets these products worldwide for use in medical, industrial, and scientific applications.

The dryers and humidifiers incorporate proprietary technology unique to Perma Pure®, based on the unusual properties of Nafion® polymer. Perma Pure is the sole supplier of Nafion tubing to the world under exclusive license from DuPont, the manufacturer of Nafion polymer. This tubing is extremely corrosion resistant and very selectively permeable to water, making it ideally suited for drying or humidification of gas samples because water can be added or removed from a sample without otherwise changing the sample.

Medical uses include drying of breath for anesthesia monitoring, respirator monitoring, and metabolic testing, as well as humidification of respirator air or supplemental oxygen. Breath is very humid; removal of excess water prior to breath analysis protects analyzers from clogging and other maintenance problems, and also improves the accuracy and precision of the analysis. Conversely, humidifiers raise the humidity of respirator air to protect patients from dehydration.

Industrial uses include gas sample conditioning in preparation for process monitoring or for environmental monitoring for regulatory compliance. Stack gases require conditioning to convert hot, wet, and dirty samples into cool, dry and clean gases required by analyzers. Perma Pure offers both complete systems to accomplish this sample preparation as well as individual components for incorporation into analyzers for this purpose.

Scientific uses include exploitation of the electrochemical and ion exchange properties of Nafion, as well as sample conditioning for laboratory analyses.
