The Pentair X-Flow UF membrane system provides a simple solution producing water that meets the highest standards for turbidity and micro biology

Potable Water
Quality requirements for potable water are becoming increasingly stringent throughout the world. The allowable levels for turbidity and micro biology are being lowered as well as new limits are being established for viruses and chlorine resistant organisms, such as cryptosporidium and giardia cysts.

Veolia Water Technologies Canada continually address these challenges by offering enhanced conventional, and multi barrier processes such as membrane systems.

Veolia Water Technologies Canada’s hollow fiber UF membrane system removes turbidity, bacteria as well as viruses. The Pentair X-Flow UF membrane system provides a simple solution producing water that meets the highest standards for turbidity and micro biology.

The XIGA™ membranes are installed in horizontal membrane housings and meet 4 log virus removal with low energy consumption.

X-Flow’s hollow fiber membrane is available in two configurations:

  • XIGA™- Multiple membranes (up to 4) installed in horizontal membrane housings
  • Aquaflex-Single membranes installed in vertical membrane housings

Wastewater Reuse
Effluent from wastewater treatment plants is typically discharged to surface water, or polished by tertiary filters such as the Hydrotech Discfilter. This polished effluent can be reused for applications such as golf course irrigation.

For more stringent end use applications, a higher level of treatment is needed. The XIGA™ membrane is Title 22 Approved and has proven to be an effective treatment for reuse, secondary effluent, and pre-treatment to RO. John Meunier’s hollow fiber membrane provides a simple solution that produces water meeting the highest standards for turbidity and pathogen removal.

Desalination
The reverse osmosis membranes used in seawater desalination are susceptible to biological fouling and plugging with fine silt. Therefore seawater desalination requires extensive pre-treatment. Conventional treatment systems are either unable to meet these quality standards or multiple barriers are required which require a larger footprint and investment.

Pentair X-Flow is the first membrane supplier to supply a membrane specifically designed to pre-treat seawater:

  • SEAGUARD - Multiple membranes (up to 4) installed in horizontal membrane housings
  • Housings are made of corrosion resistant GRP and have been designed for UF operation (high flow and low pressure)
  • Pentair X-Flow SEAGUARD membranes Pentair X-Flow have standardized skid designs or can be provided as custom engineered products
