Omnipure And Sciessent Team To Offer First And Only Active California Registered Bacteriostatic Inline Water Filters With Agion Technology

Inline filters treated with Agion brand antimicrobial technology receive CA certification, National Sanitation Foundation certification for bacteriostatic claims

WQA Aquatech USA Booth 403 - Sciessent LLC, creator of ionic silver-based antimicrobial brands Agion and Agion Active, is pleased to announce with Omnipure, the world's premier supplier of inline carbon filtration components, that Omnipure's inline filters treated with Agion have received California Department of Pesticide Regulation registration, as well as National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) certification for bacteriostatic claims. Omnipure's carbon block filters are the first and only inline filters currently active to have received both listings and contain Agion technology, and so are the first to be able to currently claim the ability to reduce the growth of bacteria. The announcement was made at the WQA Aquatech USA event, at which Omnipure is an exhibitor.

"We are thrilled to announce this latest news in our ongoing, successful application of the Agion brand. We've used the Agion brand since 2007 as our antimicrobial technology of choice, and it has consistently proven to be the right decision for our business from both a technology and a partnership perspective," said Roger Reid, President of Omnipure. "Sciessent's ability and willingness to help us through the regulatory process directly led us to today's news, which opens up new market opportunities for Omnipure while helping us expand our relationships with existing customers."

The bacteriostatic claim is particularly relevant for applications in which water is covering the filter for any period of time – RV and trailer storage tanks as well as office water coolers are two examples. Omnipure's Agion-treated filters provide reassurance that there is a bacteria inhibitor in place in the filter bed. The carbon block filters are used in all fluid processing markets including residential filtration, food service, commercial and industrial applications.

"The receipt of these certifications is terrific news for Sciessent, for Omnipure and most importantly, for customers across a range of industries who want cleaner, better tasting drinking water," said Paul Ford, CEO of Sciessent. "The California Department of Pesticide Regulation and NSF have, through rigorous review or testing, confirmed the efficacy of Agion antimicrobial technology in combating heterotrophic bacteria in filtration beds, helping Ominpure ensure its filters deliver the highest aesthetic quality water for its public and private drinking water customers."
