Northumbrian Water Group (NWG), serving over 4.5 million UK customers, partnered with Siemens to enhance water management through an advanced meter data management (MDM) solution. This system enables precise leak detection—identifying leaks as small as 1 liter per hour—and has increased consumer-side leak detection from 9% to 18%. By delivering 15-minute interval reads, NWG can proactively alert customers to leaks, reducing water waste and potential property damage. The MDM also supports customer satisfaction and environmental goals by offering transparent water usage data, promoting conservation, and preparing for extreme weather patterns.

Delivered as a secure Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), the system efficiently processes and integrates large data volumes, supporting NWG’s broader operational improvements. The collaboration with Siemens reflects NWG’s dedication to innovation, customer care, and environmental stewardship.
