Nirosoft Wins Tender For Seawater Desalination Plant In Chile

Nirosoft Industries has won a tender to supply a seawater desalination (SWRO) plant for Aguas De Altiplano, the Chilean Regional Water Utility company. The SWRO plant, to be located in La Chanavayita, a small rural community in northern Chile, will produce 45 m3 of water per hour (200 gpm).

"This state-of-the-art desalination plant represents a major step forward for the community, who will now be able to rely on a consistent supply of high quality drinking water," says Michael P. Tramer, Global VP Marketing & Sales, Nirosoft.

The system is based on Nirosoft's new NIROBOX pre-engineered systems, meeting the need for a cost-effective, easy to use water treatment solution. The treatment process comprises of ultrafiltration (UF) pre-treatment, followed by three SWRO trains and post-treatment.

The turnkey project is being supplied at an approximate cost of $3M dollars. The EPC contract, which is being funded by the Chilean Ministry of Public Works, is part of the APR initiative to bring potable water to rural communities. The project includes six months of operation and maintenance. Nirosoft will execute the project jointly with its representative, SIMTECH Ltda.
