NGWA Offers College Teachers, Students Free Webinar: 'Women In The Geosciences'
As part of Earth Science Week, high school and college science teachers and their students are encouraged to participate in a free National Ground Water Association Webinar, "Women in the Geosciences," on Thursday, October 14, at noon ET.
This Webinar is free, but is limited to 125 registrants. Only one location will be allowed per registration, but there is no limit to how many people can sit in at a location. Science teachers are encouraged to invite students to join them in the Webinar.
The Webinar is intended to encourage others, especially women, to pursue a career in the groundwater industry. The presenters will discuss how they decided to study or get into hydrogeology, and what type of mentors to seek, as well as offer advice to those soon to enter the professional workforce or recently employed. They will also share the best single piece of career advice they received.
The presenters are:
- Shiloh Dorgan, physical scientist at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (moderator)
- Heather E Brodie-Brown, senior hydrogeologist at the Ministry of Environment
- Jennifer McIntosh, Ph.D., professor at The University of Arizona.
Teachers can register for the Webinar by e-mailing Barbette Howell at bhowell@ngwa.org; please use "Women CS 2010" in the subject line of your e-mail.
