New Sensor Provides Better H₂S Insights In Sewer Network

Source: Hach

Precise pH measurement is a cornerstone of effective water treatment, yet traditional sensors often struggle with electrical interference and rapid electrolyte depletion. A more robust approach utilizes differential electrode technology, which employs three electrodes rather than the standard two. By measuring the process and reference signals against a common ground, this method eliminates ground loops and significantly reduces measurement drift.

Beyond electrical stability, the longevity of a sensor depends on its ability to withstand harsh environments. Utilizing a double-junction salt bridge provides a critical barrier against contamination, slowing the dilution of internal solutions and extending the time between necessary calibrations. For high-demand applications like membrane protection or nutrient monitoring, these design enhancements translate to lower maintenance requirements and greater data reliability.
