Nalco Chemical Acquires Diversey Water Technologies
In another U.S./Canadian corporate agreement, Nalco Chemical Company of Naperville, Illinois, will acquire the water treatment business of Diversey Corporation. Diversey is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canadian-based Molson Companies Limited. The Diversey Water Technologies unit is based in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, near Cleveland. It will operate as a separate business outside of Nalco's WATERGY and UNISOLVE units. The transaction is expected to be concluded in the second quarter of the year. By adding Diversey to the fold, Nalco expects to have worldwide sales to the water treatment middle market of nearly $300 million, and to be the leader in this sector in the U.S. and Europe. Diversey supplies water treatment products and services to commercial, industrial and institutional customers. Its annual sales around the world are about $60 million, with almost 40 percent sold outside the U.S. Nalco is said to be the largest manufacturer and supplier of water treatment and process chemicals in the world, with sales of $1.2 billion last year. It sells its product line to a wide range of industries which use water of specific quality or in large quantities, from mining and petroleum, steel, etc., to food and beverage, hospitals and miscellaneous businesses in more than 120 countries. The acquisition of Diversey is its latest move in the firm's growth plan. Contact Nalco at 708-305-1365. |
