MWH Wastewater Practice Leader Appointed To Water Environment Research Foundation's Research Council
Industry veteran Art Umble to serve a three-year term
MWH Global, the global wet infrastructure sector leader and provider of strategic consulting, environmental engineering and construction services, recently announced that Art Umble, Ph.D., MWH wastewater practice leader for the Americas region, has been appointed to the Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) Research Council. Umble will begin his three-year term Jan. 1, 2014.
The WERF Research Council is made up of industry-leading experts that act as technical advisors to oversee and coordinate the organization’s key research areas, including water reuse, resource recovery, climate change and stormwater. The prestigious council evaluates strategic plans for research in each of the areas of program research and makes funding recommendations based on industry priority and maximum impact on water quality.

Umble is a noted leader in national, state and local initiatives promoting environmental stewardship. In his role at MWH, he provides technical analysis and support for design teams on new and rehabilitated municipal wastewater treatment facilities with a focus on process optimization for treatment capacity, nutrient removal facilities, plant operations and performance optimization, wet weather treatment, solids processing and disposal facilities, disinfection systems and energy management technology.
