M&H Valve Company
At that time, the portion of the M&H Company that made cast iron valves was brought to Anniston through the special efforts of several interested local persons and the Chamber of Commerce to create more local industry and employment for the citizens of Anniston.
The M&H Valve & Fitting Company was incorporated here in 1925. The company struggled hard during the early depression years, coupled with the passing of the steam engine to the introduction of the electric motor. But M&H continued to grow and expand for the next 30 years; from the slow, tedious hand operated methods to modern technical practices. M&H started in Anniston with 60 employees.
In 1955, M&H was purchased by the Walworth Valve Company of New York and additional buildings were constructed. Six years later, in 1961, Dresser Industries aquired the M&H Valve Fitting Company from Walworth and made it an operation of the Dresser Manufacturing Division, located in Bradford, Pennsylvania. Dresser Industries was a multi-product, multi-market, world-wide corporation, selling its products services all over the world.
In October 1984, McWane Corporation of Birmingham, Alabama purchased M&H Valve Company from Dresser Industries and is the current owner.
