Denver, CO — Orica Watercare Inc. has announced the launch of its new product line — MagnaPak™ DOC Removal Systems — for use in the removal of DBP precursors from raw water supplies.

The MagnaPak™ System provides a simple, cost-effective solution for meeting EPA disinfection by-product (DBP) standards by utilizing the MIEX® ion exchange resin to remove dissolved organic carbon (DOC) – a precursor to DBP formation – from raw water supplies. The MagnaPak™ system is placed upstream of an existing treatment plant to remove DBP precursors so plants can reduce THMs and HAAs by up to 85% and meet the new EPA standards without changing disinfection practices.

Designed specifically for throughputs of 25 to 700 gpm, these preassembled, skid-mounted systems allow for quick and cost-effective installation at small water treatment plants.

MagnaPak™ Systems can remove up to 85% of raw water DOC and 95% of color resulting in significant reduction in DBP levels after disinfection. Additional downstream benefits include reduced coagulant doses and chlorine demand as well as lower sludge volumes.
