Layne Membrane Bioreactors (MBRs)

Source: Layne Christensen
Membrane Bioreactors (MBRs) from Layne improve treatment efficiency while reducing the footprint of your wastewater treatment plant by replacing downstream clarifiers. Layne's submersible MBRs clarify wastewater directly in the aeration basin where, under low pressure or vacuum conditions, the pores in the membrane allow liquid to pass while rejecting suspended solids.

Layne MBRs perform well in MLSS concentrations of 8,000 to 12,000 mg/L, adding up to four times the capacity in a conventional system. The highly concentrated biomass improves the efficient of the digester, achieving 4-log microbial retention. This MBR meets the criteria for compliance under California's Title 22, and consistently provides high quality effluent.

For new construction, Layne can provide pre-engineered package treatment plants with integrated MBRs for clients with capacities from 10,000 to 120,000 GPD. For larger installations, Layne can integrate an MBR into a custom-engineered treatment plant sized and scaled to your unique needs.

Only MBRs from Layne Christensen contain Poreflon™, the world's only PTFE hollow fiber membrane. Poreflon fibers are the strongest, most chemically resistant, highest temperature membrane fiber available. Poreflon™ MBRs are available in the USA exclusively from Layne Christensen Company.
