Lateral Lining & Spot Repair
While many Cured-In-Place-Pipe lining systems offer advantages, they also have their drawbacks. In most CIPP processes, curing time restricts repair jobs to only one line segment per day. That is, until now. Intralaminar Heat Cure (IHCTM) technology brings CIPP repairs to a new level. IHC is a trenchless repair process used for lining lateral service lines and performing spot repairs. In most cases, a crew using the IHC process can complete a lateral repair in only two-hours, and a spot repair in as little as 60 minutes.
Lateral Repairs : The IHC lateral repair system is available in a range of diameters. It utilizes a patented hybrid composite tube made with a high strength, carbon fiber that is factory impregnated with the heat-activated resin. Connected to a inversion device, the tube is inserted into the lateral through a small access pit. The composite tube easily conforms to angles within the lateral line. Once in place, the material is expanded with air pressure. Resistive heat technology is then applied to rapidly cure the resin. Standard trenchless cutting equipment is used to re-open the lateral service to the main line.
Spot Repairs : The IHC spot repair system, which utilizes a hybrid composite repair patch, is best suited for 8 to 24 inch diameter pipe. The pre-impregnated patch is then placed around the Inflation Heating Device (IHD) and inserted to the repair point through the manhole. The IHD is then inflated and a low voltage is applied to produce heat. In as little as 60 minutes, the material is cured and the repair is complete.
