LANXESS Presenting Ion Exchange Resins And Reverse Osmosis Membranes For Microelectronics Industry At UltraPure Water Micro 2017

LANXESS Sybron Chemicals Inc. is participating in UltraPure Water Micro 2017 from May 31 – June 1 in Portland, Oregon. Beryn Adams, regional technical manager and Jerry Aguilar, sales and market development manager, will present a paper titled “Reduced Biological Fouling with the Combination of Ion Exchange and Reverse Osmosis Membranes” at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1.

The presentation focuses on total organic compounds (TOC) and organics control in the make-up water system in front of the ultrapure water systems. Ultrapure water (UPW) is indispensable in the field of microelectronics, for example, in the precision manufacturing of semiconductor components such as processors, memory chips, light-emitting diodes (LED), liquid crystal displays (LCD) and solar modules.  LANXESS’ line of Lewatit UltraPure ion exchange resins play a significant role in producing ultrapure water with a very low release of organic matter (low TOC) during operation.  Combined with LANXESS’ Lewabrane reverse osmosis elements in a dual polishing step results in extremely high quality water.

“The electronics industry is a strategic focus market for LANXESS Liquid Purification Technologies business unit,” says Firuza Mir, President and CEO of LANXESS Sybron Chemicals, Inc. “Peroxide treatments with Palladium doped resins is gaining traction in the microelectronics industry, and we are pleased to be the only supplier to offer a unique product for deoxygenation – Lewatit K7333. This product is a strong based gel-type palladium doped resin designed to catalytically remove dissolved oxygen from water down to low ppb levels. With this technology, customers are hoping to reuse process water in a Zero Liquid Discharge treatment process, whereby all wastewater is purified and recycled.”

The Liquid Purification Technologies (LPT) business unit of LANXESS is one of the world’s foremost suppliers of products for treating water and other liquid media.  State-of-the-art production plants in Leverkusen and Bitterfeld, Germany, and Jhagadia, India, enable the production of Lewatit ion exchange resins and Lewabrane reverse osmosis membrane elements, to provide two complementary premium technologies for producing extremely high quality water.
