How Wastewater Might Offer Clues To Combat The Coronavirus

While many scientists are racing to address testing, treatment, and vaccines for the new coronavirus, another segment of researchers is focused on what wastewater can predict about its spread.

The University of Michigan said its researchers have teamed up with colleagues at Stanford University to examine how COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus, behaves as it moves through the environment. Wastewater could provide clues about how broadly the virus is spreading by uncovering evidence of upticks in more mild cases or those that contain no symptoms at all.
