How To Prioritize Your Aging Infrastructure Needs

Everybody knows that aging infrastructure is a major issue for U.S. utilities. But as Dan Buonadonna, Global Technology Lead with CH2M, explains in this Water Online Radio interview, we’re getting smarter about what the specific challenges are.

“One of the major challenges that cities have is their financial policy for addressing aging infrastructure,” explains Buonadonna. “They’ve got a rate model that’s based around certain revenue streams needed for capital improvements, and another one for maintenance.”

Buonadonna suggests changing the financial policy to allocate funds to where the utility needs them the most. But if you’re faced with a host of infrastructure concerns, it’s often difficult to understand which needs to prioritize.
