Hexagram, Inc. To Begin AMR Project In Chelsea, Massachusetts

Beachwood, OH — Hexagram, Inc., a subsidiary of ESCO Technologies Inc., will begin installing a fixed-network automated meter reading (AMR) system this month in Chelsea, MA, a city of approximately 35,080 located in Suffolk County directly across the Mystic River from Boston.

Hexagram will provide its fixed-network automated meter reading system for the project, which is being led by Hexagram's partner in the water market Neptune Technology Group. Troupe Water Services will install both the meters and MTUs, and the project is scheduled for completion at the end of the year.

Hexagram, based in Cleveland, Ohio, created the STAR Network AMR system that utilizes a three-part fixed network comprised of meter transmitters, a series of data collectors, and one or more network control computers. In the Hexagram system, the initial reading is taken directly at the water meter by a Meter Transmission Unit (MTU). Readings are then forwarded on via an FCC-licensed radio frequency to a Data Collector Unit (DCU). The DCU forwards the information to the water utility which provides information and billing to its customers.
