Government Accountability Office: More Needs To Be Done For COVID-19 Wastewater Surveillance

As wastewater analysis has proven to be a critical tool for tracking and combating new outbreaks of coronavirus, a legislative branch tasked with evaluating efficacy now says improvements must be made.

“A new report from a congressional watchdog agency says more needs to be done to standardize the monitoring of COVID-19 and other diseases through wastewater surveillance,” Deseret News reported. “‘Wastewater surveillance may have enormous potential as a public health tool, but some aspects of the science may need further development,’ according to the … Government Accountability Office.”
