GE, Septech Deploy Mobile Water Solutions To Meet Water Needs In UAE And Oman
Collaboration Brings Quickly Deployable Water Solutions
Dubai, UAE and Trevose, PA — GE Water & Process Technologies and Septech have announced a 20-year, multi-million dollar agreement that will help the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman meet its growing water needs. Due to an increase in population, infrastructure and energy demands, pressure on fresh water supplies is growing at an unprecedented rate throughout the region. Leveraging GE's mobile water treatment systems - the world's largest fleet - Septech will be able to rapidly respond to the regions' mounting water needs.
Under the recently signed agreement, Septech, a water infrastructure and specialised engineering firm, has purchased a fleet of rapidly deployable GE Mobile Water Treatment Systems. The Septech-GE collaborative will provide regional industrial, municipal and infrastructure customers with a portfolio of solutions capable of meeting virtually any water, wastewater and process water need.
"Whether it's an emergency, supplemental, or extended water need, our mobile water systems deliver solutions that meet virtually any customer requirement," said Ralph Hadley, General Manager, Middle East and Africa for GE Water & Process Technologies. "This is yet another example of how GE continues to partner with industry leaders to drive growth and meet customers' most pressing water needs," added Hadley.
The fleet, which will be owned by Septech and serviced by GE, are easily deployable; able to meet the most stringent regulatory requirements in the world and can operate independently of a power source. Housed in a 12 meter (40-foot) mobile container, the units can treat brackish, salt and wastewater; and produce up to 1,000 cubic meters of pure water per day.
"With the Middle East North Africa (MENA) water market expected to grow to 183 billion USD in the next five years, we hope to capture a significant percentage of the total water and wastewater market in the region," said Septech CEO David Heffernan. "Serviced by a 24-hour, 7-day a week toll-free number, 800 SEPTECH (800 7378324), which is now operational within UAE) and a specialised support and deployment team, we will ensure rapid dispatch and delivery of the units. We will also help prevent businesses and construction sites from shutting down due to insufficient access to treated water. Continuing operations and bringing adequate water supplies to MENA is at the heart of Septech's new offering," continued Heffernan.
Septech will operate the fleet in three major service patterns: emergency situations for immediate service of periods from one to 30 days; short-term scenarios ranging from one to 12 months; and remote/off the grid situations.
GE offers the world's largest fleet of mobile water treatment systems and provides rapid response for a full range of: reverse osmosis; filtration; demineralization; softening; and deoxygenation treatment on demand.
