Full Line Of SolarBee Energy-Efficient Mixers Reduces Odors And Energy Costs In Wastewater Ponds

SolarBee energy-efficient mixers are available in seven different models, with sizes and intake designs specific to the application.

The full line of SolarBee mixers is designed to solve a variety of municipal and industrial wastewater quality problems including odor control, EPA discharge permit violations and high energy costs. Utilizing solar power, SolarBee mixers operate 24/7 to reduce effluent BOD, TSS, and ammonia. SolarBee mixers can supply most of the mixing energy required in any treatment pond, reducing the hours that the aeration system must operate.

SolarBee energy-efficient mixers provide complete mixing in partial and total-mix systems and improve performance of facultative pond systems. Flow rates vary by mixer size and range from 1,250 to 10,000 gallons per minute. Multiple mixers can be installed in wastewater ponds, depending on need and design specification. SolarBee’s fully-trained and knowledgeable applications engineering staff is available to assist on project design and deployment.

SolarBee mixers operate day and night with a low-voltage motor and on-board battery system for continuous, energy-efficient water quality improvement. SolarBee’s patented long-distance circulation technology creates a near-laminar flow pattern that completely mixes the water column and improves distribution of dissolved oxygen. Each solar-powered mixer can displace the mixing energy of about 25,000 watts (30 horsepower) of conventional grid-connected mixing equipment and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 148 tons per year.

Eligible for green initiatives
Because SolarBee mixers use “green” solar power and reduce consumption of grid power, municipalities are eligible for green initiatives and utility rebates. For example, many utilities fund energy efficiency and energy conservation programs to reduce their peak loads, or avoid building expensive transmission lines. These utilities are also seeking solar credits to meet their Renewable Portfolio Standard and Greenhouse Gas Emissions goals. SolarBee units uniquely qualify in three of these categories: Energy Efficiency, Energy Conservation and Solar Power (renewable energy).

“SolarBee units offer outstanding opportunities, having qualified already for many such programs around the country and sometimes, programs are created around the SolarBee technology,” said Pat Schnaidt, vice president of marketing, SolarBee, Inc.

About SolarBee
SolarBee Inc., a division of Medora Environmental Inc., develops and installs solar-powered circulation equipment to help solve water-quality problems in freshwater lakes, wastewater lagoons, storm-water ponds, estuaries, potable and recycled water storage tanks, and other reservoirs. SolarBee’s patented long-distance circulation technology creates a near-laminar flow that can prevent and control algae in fresh water; reduce aeration time/expense and provide odor capping in wastewater lagoons; and completely mix any size potable water tanks to reduce nitrification, temperature stratification, stagnation and residual loss. The mixers can move up to 10,000 gallons per minute from depths of more than 100 feet and have been proven in hundreds of applications worldwide.
