Field Well Water - PFAS Removal By AEC 3-Cell Unit

Source: BioLargo Inc

BioLargo’s Aqueous Electrostatic Concentrator (AEC) was used to treat well water provided by a major water district in Southern California with the aim of determining the removal rate for the 25 different per- or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) covered by EPA Method 533. Water was run through the AEC five times.  Samples were submitted for analysis from the first pass (1st Turnover), the third pass (3rd Turnover), and the fifth pass (5th Turnover). The AEC system was shown to reduce the concentration of the 11 different PFAS compounds found in the source water to below their limit of quantification (LOQ) by the 3rd Turnover. The other 14 PFAS compounds could not be detected in the untreated well water.
