Envirogen To Provide Dual Built-In-Place Biofilters For Odor Control For City Of Dallas
Large, custom-built installations will deliver high-efficiency odor control at a low lifecycle cost
Envirogen Technologies, Inc. (Envirogen) announced recently that it has been awarded the contract to build two biological odor control systems for Dallas Water Utilities (DWU), the water and wastewater service operated by and for the City of Dallas, Texas. These large, built-in-place systems will utilize Envirogen's proven biofiltration technology to remove odors and 99% of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from air at the wastewater operation's aerated grit chamber and Pump Station C. Equipment will be delivered and installed over the second half of 2011.
According to Robert Stark, Vice President, South Region for Envirogen, the new installations are another example of the company's ability to design and build high-efficiency, low-cost systems that provide tailored solutions to customer requirements. The new DWU odor control systems will handle H2S concentrations of 40-81 parts per million by volume (ppmv) at an air flow rate of 10,770 cubic feet per minute (cfm) for the aerated grit system, and 8-15 ppmv at 93,000 cfm for Pump Station C. Both will achieve 99% H2S removal, typical of the company's biofilter product line. The systems will consist of covered, poured-in-place concrete treatment bays with complete biofilter internals, instrumentation and controls, media and other peripheral equipment. Envirogen will provide on-site customer support through start-up and training phases of the installation, along with a media guarantee. The company worked with its rep group, Hartwell Environmental in developing the installation proposal for the City of Dallas. Hartwell is Envirogen's representative in the Texas and Oklahoma markets whose work has helped make Envirogen one of the leading suppliers of biofilter installations in the region.
