Encapsulation Fittings: The Pipe Repair Solution You Didn't Know You Need

In the best of scenarios, a water or wastewater pipe repair job involves exposing the leaking pipe, installing a repair clamp, or if necessary, cutting off the service and replacing a section of pipe using couplings. But few repairs are this simple. Complications can arise quickly, from difficult-to-access lines to critical lines to users such as hospitals, intercity areas, or major traffic arteries that suffer from construction interruption.

These problems are exacerbated when the leak is a large water or sewer main break. Large main breaks are headline news and both logistical and publicity headaches for utilities. The faster these or any leaking pipe can be permanently repaired, the better.

One solution that is not often considered is an encapsulation fitting. Encapsulation of the damaged portion of the pipe can provide a quick-yet-permanent solution that avoids many of the worst aspects of repair jobs, including outdated sizes or materials, contamination, boil water notices, and much more.
