Ecovation To Continue Wine Wastewater Treatment For Canandaigua Wine

Victor, NY — Ecovation, Inc., a leading provider of customized wastewater treatment solutions, announced it has extended its contract with Canandaigua Wine Company (CWC) to continue waste stream treatment operations at the Canandaigua, NY, facility. The contract is for ten years with the option for two, five-year extensions.

"This is the first time we have signed a long-term contract for these services," noted Peter Lijewski, vice president for CWC's parent company, Constellation Brands. "We have developed a good working partnership with Ecovation."

"This has truly been a collaborative effort," said Diane C. Creel, chairman and CEO of Ecovation. "As our first commercial client, CWC has believed in our technology and they continue to be one of our most valued customers. We want to continue handling their wastewater at the Canandaigua facility so they can focus on their core business."

Ecovation first installed a two-module, Mobilized Film Technology (MFTSM) pretreatment system to replace CWC's aging and costly aerobic system in 1998. The system was designed to treat a normal hydraulic flow of 100,000 gallons and 4,200 pounds of COD per day. In 2001, the system was expanded to include a third module, which increased the treatment capacity by 50%. The facility is now generating an average load and flow of over 12,000 pounds of COD and 110,000 gallons per day.

"One of the best aspects of working with Ecovation is that they are always trying to improve," said Charles Meyn, director of engineering for CWC. "They look forward and try to address issues. That hasn't seemed to stop."
