Ecovation Technology At Coca-Cola Named Wastewater Treatment Plant Of The Year
Ontario Syrup Branch Receives the Large Industry Award
Victor, NY -- Ecovation, Inc. has announced that its patented anaerobic Mobilized Film Technology (MFTSM) system in operation at Coca-Cola North America's syrup plant in Ontario, California was named Southern California's Large Industry Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Year by the California Water Environment Association (CWEA). The award was presented at the 32 nd Annual Pretreatment, Pollution Prevention & Stormwater Conference & Exhibition in Monterey, CA.
Diane C. Creel, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ecovation said, "We are extremely pleased to be recognized by the industry for the MFT system at Coca-Cola. We have a great partnership with Coca-Cola and as a result, a sustainable and economical treatment system."
The Coca-Cola North America syrup facility is located along a coastal watershed where the TDS discharge is being closely monitored by local agencies. With changes to discharge limits imposed by the regulating agency, the company needed a wastewater treatment solution that would be able to handle variables in flow and strength, offer effective overall pre-treatment and greatly reduce electricity use while meeting new, tighter discharge permit conditions.
Through a licensing agreement, Ecovation provided its MFT as part of a total wastewater management solution that offered cost savings while maintaining a continued focus on regulatory and environmental compliance. The MFT system installed at Coca-Cola North America's facility has been in operation since November 2003.
The CWEA program serves to recognize outstanding professional achievements within the wastewater field and to stimulate public awareness of the importance of wastewater treatment to public health and the water environment.
