Eco-Therm™ Pasteurization - EPA Approval - Class A-EQ Beneficial Use
Houston, Texas, October 2002 – Ashbrook Corporation has received US EPA Region 9 approval to beneficially use the product from the Eco-Therm™ Pasteurization process installed at the Hemet, CA WWTP as Class A-EQ (exceptional quality) material. US EPA Region 9 has reviewed and approved the use of the belt filter press dewatered cake following pasteurization and anaerobic digestion as Class A-EQ material. The EPA set stringent requirements for approval; maximum pathogen content, more than 21 days after pasteurization, following anaerobic digestion and belt filter press dewatering. All of the requirements were met and approval for beneficial use of the dewatered cake has been granted. Pasteurization will save biosolids operating costs over previous Class B operations at the Hemet plant.
