Dow Water & Process Solutions, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) and a global leader in water purification, announced recently, as part of the 2008 Edina expansion, its investment in the design, construction and start up of the next generation production line of DOW™ FILMTEC™ residential reverse osmosis (RO) elements, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.

The global residential water treatment market is growing, driven in part by the awareness of the importance of clean water and the increased concern about water-related health problems. Also, economic growth in China, India, other Asian countries and Eastern Europe has opened an immense market of people that are willing to invest for their health and wellness.

"We have always been committed to providing the most reliable and consistent products and solutions to our customers and their clients," said Leticia Jensen, marketing manager, Dow Water & Process Solutions. "Whether it is through our industry expertise, technological developments, or investments to support customer growth, we stand behind our products and our commitment to make high quality water a reality worldwide."

Dow's newest FILMTEC™ residential RO elements will be produced on state-of-the-art, fully automated fabrication equipment–from raw materials to final packaging, the elements are precisely manufactured to rigorous, pre-defined specifications. The ability to consistently produce identical, high quality products time and again means DOW™ FILMTEC™ elements offer customers reliability. In addition, it provides consumers with reliable home RO system start-up performance, minimizing the need for RO element related service calls.

The new production line is expected to start up by early 2010. "The increased capacity, advanced automation and quality control will allow us to keep providing high quality DOW™ FILMTEC™ residential RO elements, with improved service levels and inventory." stated Jensen.
