Condition Assessment At Spring Creek Ranch
Spring Creek Ranch in Jackson, Wyoming, operates an independent water system that provides potable water to the resort and surrounding properties. To ensure the continued quality of service, the resort recently commissioned Echologics to assess the integrity of its 1.7-mile network of 12-inch ductile iron pipes, which have been in use for over 40 years. Using the non-invasive ePulse® method, the team evaluated the pipes without disrupting service, ensuring minimal disruption to guests and operations.
The ePulse method works by measuring acoustic wave propagation to determine the remaining structural wall thickness of the pipes. The technology revealed that while most segments were in moderate condition, with up to 30% loss in wall thickness, no leaks were detected. Some segments yielded no results due to poor acoustic signal propagation, but these could be retested in the future with additional access points. The findings will allow the resort to prioritize pipe replacements or rehabilitation, extending the lifespan of the system.
Stephen Price, General Manager of Spirit Dance Hotels & Resorts, noted the success of the assessment, highlighting the quick, non-disruptive process. The data provided will inform proactive maintenance strategies, including options for cleaning, lining, or installing leak monitoring systems. The resort plans to continue using ePulse technology over the next two years to ensure a reliable water supply for its residents and visitors.
